    i like the system where you need to contribute to the site before posting in the buy/sell area. surley it can not be hard to get 3 likes the person who created this thread got 9 likes.

    it's not sick. This system is made to keep the spammers away. If you like to hit by spammers and work with them than you are welcome to go against with this system and you have also another option that you can go for premium membership. at this time you are thinking about yourself and your business but not about the contribution which you should make for the community. So don't waste your time on complaining about this system just post the quality content, You have 2 likes just need one more and you will be established member so why are you compaining and saying this system bad, don't forget that you are enjoying all the services of DP since last 4 years and you didn't have to pay any cost. you are an old member here so you should appreciate all new comers to welcome this system. I am new here and see have 5 likes even I didn't make any planning for it, just got them by sharing my opinion.
    So apply the rule of give and take and enjoy the services of DP. :)

But I do question why you bother to stick around when all you do is complain about how terrible everything and everyone is. Why don't you just leave and go elsewhere?     As far as I remember the like system was advertised as it will reduce scammers and will increase the quality of posts, but now we are talking about posts with likes tend to be better? Is it just me thinking this, or the liking system went out of control and now is not as expected?
    Just for statistics, in which forum/section the like system is used most? I usually visit the domain name section but I've seen only a few liked posts. My guess is Support & feedback the one with more likes activity.

    Actually, the new like system is working out better than expected. Quite happy with it right now... That's not to say we aren't always looking for better ways to measure an established member... So it could change someday if someone has a better idea. As for the current system, it's absolutely reduced spammers/scammers and upped the average post quality.

    Likes are most given in the design/programming sections. Which makes sense because people tend to go there looking for specific help.

    Isn't this called Like trading?
    BTW, I don't know I did it, but I picked randomly 50 threads with posts in those categories and I found 4 threads with one liked post and 2 threads with 2 liked posts, while in this section is the exact opposite. Just saying...
