It doesn't, mate. It used to be quantity before (25 posts and wait for 14 days - anyone can make that amount of pointless posts and then wait a couple of weeks), but now it's simpler - just get three likes.

If you had rep (which is not iTrader) from before, it would have been converted, but as you didn't you have started at zero. But it's only three, so not really much of a problem.

We are using the wrong word here.
If per like meaning, I can and have the right to like any post here, dumb or not (as rules says). There is no abusing in liking 1, 10, 100 all posts in a thread.

As mentioned by me (in an other thread), the "like" word should be changed to "rate" or any other synonym. It doesn't make sense to force someone to like a post.

 

I understand new rules about famous ''three likes''. It is actually cool,because there aren't so many spammers. I think it will be easy to get three likes,just have to post interesting stuffs,and help community to grow.

 

To be honest, I was a bit confused and even a little bit frustrated when I logged into my account one random day and found that my access had changed... Not because I couldn't post in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum (okay - I admit, that was partially the reason), but because I actually thought I did something wrong and I wanted to figure out what it was so I could fix it. But after reading a couple of posts, it finally made sense lol.

I'm not a huge fan of the 3-like system, but I definitely support and can understand the reasoning behind it. I think it's a good way to reduce the amount of low quality threads that are created and it also makes you work towards the goal of adding value to the forums. I don't think it will completely eliminate the issue, but it's a start. I think it will encourage others to make more of an effort and participate in discussions, and that's the key thing.

I was shocked that I could not post in a section I had already posted in before due to lack of likes ... just found out about it now. Guess I'm off to post some good stuff, been here long enough it's due from me.

Good, did as you asked. That WAS my ugly mug on the old "gravatar". Noone liked that, Figures. Got hassled for it at another place. Guess no one knows how pretty I ACTUALLY am IRL. Anyways, changed to a beloved mural that I adore in our Legislative Building in my province.

Still, some1 mentioned that magickal 14 days or so. Dunno, didn't really study hard on that. Just someone sayin'.

Actually, you are right! I joined this forum some days before just for posting a thread in buy and sell section. But when I heard that I should have 3 likes for it and that also from established members, I just got so frustrated. All the negative thoughts started coming in my mind. I was thinking that DP has done a big mistake by applying this new rule. All its members will soon leave this forum. But after reading some posts and rules carefully, I just realized that all this is just to get rid of spammers. And now I really respect its decision. This new rule is really helpful for people who does very hard work to get their work noticed. And now true members won't get vanished among the spammers.

Yes and the member who has been doing this has been reported by *many* members and the mods have taken action against him for abusing the like system. He has been warned and if he chooses to ignore the warnings then he can join his friend who was banned last week.

 

Couldn't agree more. Why wouldn't anyone want the forum to be filled with less annoying, useless posts and be replaced with helpful, informative posts? After all, no one is going to like trashy posts. So it benefits everyone if you appreciate the need for helpful posts and not abusive ones.
