Keep updating your blog with top quality contents in a regular basis. Keep adding more quality backlinks from the high authority sites which are based on your site niche. For new website, it's getting some time to get the top ranking. So be patience and work it in the proper way to achieve your target! Good luck!

    OP,

My response, would be as vague as your question. We do not know the quality of your site; there many
factors that determine even if you will get ranking at all. for instance, if you have a crap website, then authority
backlinks will do you little good, same goes for having a great site, then all the bad backlinks in the world
will do you no good, and you will never rank. assuming you have a good site, assuming on page-seo is good, then
it can take many months to move up the ranks; Trying to get there by unnatural means will result in a penalty....
In some cases, I haveheard people doing good after several months, and as long as 1-3 years, and this can
highly depend on if your niche is any good, if it is profitable, or even competitive or not...

You are right, at the end of the day, only a few things actually matter...

    1: attractive/quality site...
    (this could increase conversions...)

    2: high quality content
(500 word articles wont do it anymore...)

    3: On Page SEO
(internal linking, image linking, link to authority sites, etc...)

4: right niche, and keyword research...
    (This should be foremost #1)

If you want to waste time on social media bringing random traffic to your site
then that is fine; however, if you do not have mass following, I find it ineffective...
however, good to show google that you are alive, that is about it...

5: Time, lots of it; unless you have something that looks so desire/hot, then it is rare
that a new site will get off the ground within a year. I have heard some sites going from
$0 - $4k in just under 6mo, however, these people knew what they were doing...
(they were showing skills that few can show when setting up a site....)

at the end of the day, content, links, and time is your meal ticket...
and all of it has to be high quality, otherwise, your site will suffer....

do not post 500 word articles just because it maybe convenient for you...
Do not link back to so-so sites just because they maybe a friend of yours...
google will always be looking at your site, and what you maybe doing next,
and what you do may actually affect your rankings...

a site that is only one month old should not even be trying to rank, at this point
in time, you have nothing google wants, and google is seeing if they can trust your
site, and that will not happen in one month (most likely, this may take many months)
and when google does start to trust your site, then they will still be following what you do....

    recap:

    1: more content
    2: less backlinks
    3: lots of time

    Repeat 1-3

    Ah, such a simple question!

I'm going to show you exactly how to rank a keyword in a month (or less!).

    Alright, ready?

    Step 1) Go to Godaddy.com - register the domain FJEEOrrpdsw3899448fgfo.com (it's available, I checked :))

Step 2) Once the domain is inside of your Cpanel, slap Wordpress on it - make sure the website title is FJEEOrrpdsw3899448fgfo.

Step 3) Create a post called FJEEOrrpdsw3899448fgfo - it doesn't have to be very long, just introduce your website and future goals, etc.

Step 4) Be sure your permalink structure has been updated to domain/post-name or domain/category/post-name.

    That's IT!

In just a couple weeks, I guarantee you'll be ranking on the first page for the keyword FJEEOrrpdsw3899448fgfo.

Note: If after a week, you don't see your website in the Google index; verify it with Google.com/webmasters and use the 'fetch as Google' feature.

Don't expect to rank for anything remotely competitive within a month. SEO takes time you are competing with more established websites.

Keep adding posts for internal links.

You can promote your content on web 2.0 sites for external backlinks. Make sure that you mix up your anchor text to make everything look natural. I use:

    exact match
    url

I think that is unrealistic, and overkill thinking you can just run out, and think high authority
sites will sit back, and watch you run up spam comments. I know a service that does
commenting on authority sites, and they are not cheap, however, you do not need many
such comment links on authority sites, as just a few here and there would do more then you think.

If seo is what these people want to get into, then they should have a good size budget.
cheap SEO doesnt do it anymore, and seo pros that do this for a living will cost you....
and if you do it right, then you do not need a lot simply because of the authority you get.

just a little authority here and there goes along way in showing trust with google
