Hey there people! My name is Miroslav. I've been working on my Web Development skills for over one year now and I feel like it's time to jump in the real world so my question is: How do I get started? I mean, where do I find projects for "noobs" so to speak? I am willing to work for free, my goal is to collect some experience and learn something more on the topic. Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks!
You could contact some local charities and offer them your services in return for a reference. You could create your own project, develop a website based on your interests or local community. You could look at joining open source projects on sites like GitHub. I wish you all the best in the real world.
No worries. My first commercial website was for my University Jiu Jitsu club. It was a good learning experience and the club got a new website.
Search for a forum where are many open development projects and contribute to some of them with your own code. Or just do some free coding work for people requesting it on forums untill you get your skills together for a paid job.
If your happy to work for free, build your own websites and start to create your own portfolio, it will help a lot later on when you feel confident enough to take on private (paid) jobs from others. You could hang out in sections of the forum where members ask for help, bug-fixing etc, but if your quite new to web development I doubt you'd be of much help to them, no harm in trying though.
