On the off chance that you are going to emerge, your authors need to be prepared in your brand rules, including the tone of articles and components to be incorporated in them, and additionally style and voice.
I didn't try it yet. But last day I did analyze for it and create a doc about the whole process. If you guys want then I can share it here! I am going to start this very soon with one of my partner.
1. Know whats make you different. 2. Define news content vs. blog content. 3. Find writers. 4. Establish brand guidelines and voices. 5. Maintain journalistic standards. 6. Make sure your site is technically and adheres to google standards. 7. Pick up frequency. 8. Form an editorial team and hold weekly planning meetings. 9. Submit the site . 10. Focus on quality.
In my opinion it's not worth it. Too many requirements. Unless you have planty of time and free hands. I think it's better to conсentrate on being in the top 3 for search engines. Besides not everyone really mentions google news. To retain your website on top is much more important.
Getting into Google News isn't an easy task. you have to work hard with your site. You have to add fresh and unique content on regular basis. Better if you read their guidelines.
