How to get in Yahoo directory

I tried submitting my website however, it seems to take them years before they even look at my submission.

Anyone has any idea of how long it would take to get a website submitted the free way?

In case they don't accept you, is there any email you receive from them telling you so? Is there any email from them in case you do get accepted?

Use the paid option for fater review. Free listing may take sometime before you hear from them. ;)

$299 is not worth paying for a non-commercial website

But even if you earn 100 dollars a month from adsense, you recover the cost in 3 months :).. No business gives such a return eh. Create a JUNK celeb site.. get a few free directory links and ONE YAHOO link and u recover the same in 3 month... what say?

I never tried to submit my sites on yahoo directory.

My thinking: Google and yahoo are competitors. Google owning most of the search quires searched on the net. So page rank is essential for the traffic.

I dont think that google will index all the pages on yahoo directory. But I never did any site search for yahoo on google.

So wastage of time submitting on yahoo directory.

You will probably just have to pay the fee to get listed. I've personally never submitted any of my sites to yahoo's directory and $299 is way to much for any 1 year directory listing.

I'm not trying to trick google or make a quick buck from Adsense. I'm more in for the longterm.

Also, the site i want to submit is mostly done for the visitors, low CTR for adsense and targeted ads rarely being served. So I barely get any money from adsense, although I do get enough to cover the bandwidth costs.

That is little high for a normal site, I mean the money. About 300$.

You can go in the backdoor of Yahoo.
What I mean is: find expired domains that are already in Yahoo's dir.

Of course, this means that you might not get the category you want but then again it's just $7 not $299. And you get a guaranteed spot in Yahoo:)

I own several Yahoo-listed domains acquired this way.

    My words are taken.

I just search in google with the query: "site:dir.yahoo.com" and the result is little surprise to me:

    Results 1 - 10 of about 2,000,000 from dir.yahoo.com

So the best way to increase the site's rank is to submit your site to yahoo directory.

Is it really worth the $299? I mean, is it gonna make that much difference to my ranking in Yahoo and Google?

Well after doing a little annalyzing I found some pretty inetresting information.

I checked out the category my site would fall in, and believe me it's a very small category. Something like 7 out of the 10 sites were ranked in the top 10 of Yahoo for my target keyword.

I think I know where my next investment is going :)

if you really want to get in the Yahoo directory then you shouldn't contemplate paying the $299
