I spend most of my time writing for my site. I've thought about putting some jpg in my sites. Sometimes, when I google a subject to look at my competition, there are images at the number 1,2 or 3 spot on the first page. Just wondering...if I was to post a few images, how would I get them to rank high?
well OBVIOUSLY Search Engine Optimization include optimizing images for a search engine. The question asked was *how* to optimize images for google image search. I don't know the full answer bigcat1967, but I do know how Google looks at your files. Filename: Is the file name relevant to the subject of the image? Alternate Text: That stuff that shows up in a tooltip when you mouse over the image. This can be an image caption, and these words google will look through. Context: The text on the page that surrounds the image will let Google know if the image is relevant - the more relevant the image is to the keywords it sees on your page, the higher it will show up in the image search. Also, the image cache moves slower than the web index, so your images might take longer to show up there than your site will take to show up in the google web search. I hope this information helps, also know that if you try to boost your rating by putting spam keywords or stuff like that, Google will unlist you from their index and you'll be sent to what people nickname 'google hell' where you don't show up at all. If you do your job and have the best and most relevant website, Google makes its business by doing it's job well: ranking you where you belong in their index. Short answer: how do you show up on top for any given search? Be the most relevant and useful website on those keywords in the world. Good luck!
in short name your images with keywords 1 and 2 alt tags so it shows on mouse over this is main things that should always be done
