Best way to do that is to rank very good at google, than you are a king of a mountain, but until this time, you have to work with your seo, just my personal opinion :]
By the way, i think you have to get your loyal readers, this will make your website visible to google, also you will get traffic and this will make you website to grow
Press Releases are useless. I know of people who have spent big bucks on real high profile PR's and they last about 6 hours and disappear off the radar. Once released that is it, nothing more will happen the next day because you are old news by then. We are talking like Rolling Stone, Newsweek, all the big ones, not that low cost stuff, but high dollar PR's are even pretty useless. The reason is pretty clear to me. Unless you have an investment worthy of taking a hard look at, then you will get casual clicks and nothing else. And writing a good press release is hard. People won't bite on most topics, they just look and pass. Time. That is the only thing that creates any result. You want instant traffic? That means you want a bunch of slackers hitting your site and doing nothing then. Go for the long term reputable SEO method and work for it or pay someone with REAL skills to assist. But make sure they are not posers, there are a lot of wanna-be SEO people out there hanging a shingle these days. Get references and be prepared to pay out your nose, SEO is hard and boring work. Takes a long time. Doesn't always come out like you want and may take a dozen "treatments" before you even start to feel the difference. I had a job out for 1200 a month for someone to SEO a site. No takers. Know why? Real SEO people charge double that amount or more. Posers will take anything they can get. Beware of the poser!
The social bookmarking thing? Eh... Not so much. It really doesn't do much for your site or its reputation to spam bookmarking sites. I think those are really another casualty of the "marketer wars" in so much as they now have become spam houses of pain. Stumble Upon is still cool though. I think Twitter is dying a slow painful death too right now. It has become a marketers jungle of Bitly links and auto-posting for the majority of what is was worth. Once the "Internet Ebook Guru Marketing Experts" flood a site, it's over. But my Twitter page is worth 10 grand. I am selling it for a dollar... Any takers http://www.twitter.com/yourockradio
Traffic is a tricky context...what do need?...thousands of visitors a day or what...however it all depends on what your site is about. If the content is relevant to the theme of your site...certainly you will index well and get search engine traffic easily....'content is still the king'
Yes you can do directory submission, Social bookmarking, SMO face book, squidoo, hubpages, wordpress is best but do quality submissions, press release....start with all
Improve your ranking by getting some good backlinks and it will helping you to increase your traffice.
These are definitely good ways to increase traffic but make sure the social bookmarking sites, blogs, and directories are dofollow as it will also provide you the backlinks benefits.
