If anyone gave you his tips, the content made with them wouldn't be original and unique anymore ;)

Go to the directory list link in my signature, and submit to all those sites. Your site should reach a solid pr 3 without a problem.

I saw a PR 5 site that had one link to it from a PR 6 site.

Pagerank is all about backlinks. But the best backlinks are from people linking to your quality content, as crumblepie noted.

    Good luck

Try to get maximum reciprocal link back to your website related to your website content.
e.g. if you are having "real estate website" get more and more back links from real estate websites,
Initially your link partner page PR would be 0, so try to get links on more than 1 PR.

Write to websites that have high page ranks and are the same as your website niche. Tell them that you have added their link to your site and ask if they would do the same. As snowbird said, directory listings also help.

    My suggestion is:

Create a good article (or pay for that), find good site and post your article on it (with your link, and appropriate anchor text)

I improved content, increased my relevant links, and cleaned up the title & metas....went from PR2 to a PR3 in a very short time. Now I'm looking forward to the next Google crawl (hoping for a PR4).

probably a silly question but how often do google update page ranking, and do they (google) announce their craw dates for that?

Pagerank is normally exported to the toolbar every quarter (4 times a year). Lately Google has updated more frequently, but they do not announce such pagerank toolbar exports. Google has stated PR exports are a non event for them.

Google's internal PR calculations are updated quite frequently, but we never see this data. In fact, the toolbar pagerank is just a snapshot from the past.
