As we all know the cost per click in Facebook ads depends on the CTR. If you have high CTR , Facebook system understand that people like you ad and Facebook reward you back with low cost per click. Here, i will mention some steps that will help you to get high CTR from my experience with Facebook ads the last 2 years, 1- Always bid on on CPM and not CPC as it will be much cheaper especially if you are targeting countries like USA . if you bid on CPC, the price will be very high. 2- when you run your ad for the first time, set your budget as minimum as possible. make it 2 or 3 dollars to test to your ad copy and the CTR. if you get good result then extend the budget. This is to avoid losing money. 3- The Picture is very important part in the Facebook ads. The CTR depends mainly on the pciture in the ad. it is better to create multiple ad copy with different pictures to check which ad copy is getting the highest CTR. 4- when You choose your picture, make sure to keep away from Facebook colors. Keep away from blue and white pictures. use pictures that contrast with Facebook colors. use pictures with yellow, green and red. putting the Picture in a red frame will get you a very good CTR. 5- From my experience, pictures on smiling face and celebrities get high CTR. 6- Narrow your Target. When Set up your Campaign to target millions of people. First, think what are you targeting and who will be interested. This is T get a Better CTR and to get a better conversion for your product. if you are promoting a game, so it is better to target young people. set you target to 50000 maximum and target people by interest. 7- use sites like alexa and quantcast to who will be interested in your product. I hope you will find it useful
Thank you, I do find this helpful. I've been using AdWords and Bing for some time now. Some of the advice you give is similar to what I'd suggest for AdWords and Bing, but there are also new insights that I was not aware of. Have you also studied what ROI is like if you compare Facebook, AdWords and Bing advertising? I always hear that Facebook's ROI is pretty sucky.
google has the best traffic and the best conversion, but it is very hard to deal with. I stopped dealing with adwords as I keep getting my account banned. Bing also has a high conversion rate and they are cheaper than adwords but I don't have a lot of experience with it to be honest. I agree with you that the RIO from facebook is not high this is because it is not search engine that people use to search for certain things. you can overcome this by narrowing your target. Try to identity who exactly you want to see your ad. Try to focus on a small group, target by interest is very important. The Good thing about facebook that you can get a lot of free traffic, if you manage to publish one post that get a lot of likes and comments and shares and relate this post to an offer page you will get alot of free traffic to your web site.
I do agree with some of your points, however from a lot of experience there is quite a lot that I deem incorrect or dependant on the situation. The tip with the pictures is good however I always your either a thin neon border or a shadowed pictures for clients in order to make the photo stand out. I disagree with the targeting depending on the situation. If you are trying to sell a specific item and have a tiny maybe keep it that targeted, however you need to remember that Facebook picks the perfect people to target your ad towards that are most likely to complete your targeted action, so you are best to use broad but targeted precise interests and ALWAYS use optimized CPM. For example if your page is about Harry Potter you will want to target "Harry Potter", "Hogwarts", "Voldemort" etc. NOT "Quidich" or "Nimbus" or "Hogwarts Express" these are to targeted for a page trying to gain page likes. ***THE BIG SECRET*** Nobody seems to understand how important this is and how much money that this can save you on ads, however I will share it. SPLIT TESTING Every campaign that I run for my clients has between 400 and 1000 ads split by pictures, demographics, targets, ad titles, ad descriptions. People ALWAYS underestimate this. Facebook automatically picks and uses the best few ads out of all of these, hence getting you likes for as cheap as possible. There is many other things I do as well, that I have learnt over the past 18 months. Facebook ads have lost me A LOT of money, however once mastered them, they are a gold mine for people with the correct ideas. If you have any other questions or are interested in my services PM me.
