How to get get listed #1 for Google Map?

    Google Maps results usually show up just below the Google AdWords PPC Ads and above the organic search results in this order…

    1. Google AdWords Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Ads
    2. Google Maps - Map and Business Listings (A, B, C… and so on)
    3. "Organic" Rankings - Natural Search Engine Optimization (SEO)


    Anyone know how to get listed #1 for Google Maps in your area?

    I am not sure exactly, but I will try to give some clues. Be listed in the Google local first. I believe the usual web ranking applies. The more links you have, the more chances you have to rank #1. Building link is important. I make a guess for the city "Toronto", but I would bet that having the keywords "Toronto" on your home page would help for people looking in Toronto. Basically, Google locale and link building seems for me the #1 strategy for rankings.

    Yea you need to be listed in google local, then get lots of backlinks with good anchor text. Google Maps results can get some good traffic.

    Putting the target area/location along with your keywords as anchor text will help on local listing.
