How to get from the Second page to the First page of Google?

    Hey all,

The site for our company is currently at the top of the second page of Google for a very high search term keyword that would bring us a lot of customers, however I am having trouble getting that last couple of positions higher to push us over to the first page

I've done pretty much every form of unpaid SEO I can think of, the only thing that I haven't really explored is getting more back links from higher page rank sites (even though we currently have hundreds of relevant back links as one of our services is web design and we put a back link on every one of our customer's sites).

Any thoughts for the last, final push? Anyone else in a similar situation?

Our company's website is http://www.xtreme.com.au if it is of any help.

    Thanks!

What things have you tried so that I don't duplicate what you've already done.

I think the most important thing is getting backlinks from high-PR sites, lol. Funny how that's the only thing you haven't done. If that's out of the question, perhaps use the keyword more often within your own documents [where relevant]? Perhaps putting it in some <title> tags or link text?

The best thing I can suggest is to get as many back links to your site with your sites name (Keyword) or your sites concept keyword. Excample, the No 1 spot for the keyword 'click here' is Adobe, check it and see. The reason is their site concept keyword is 'click here' and they have thousands of back links to the search term/keyword 'click here'.

I tried this for my golf site and although my sites called passion-for-golf.com my sites concept keyword is 'golf tips for biginners' I got a load of back links for the keyword search 'golf tips for beginners' and I am now No 1 on Google for that term which by the way is used 85,000,000 times!

Also as Gamechief pointed out, get back links from high PR sites, you can use Link Market, the link exchange site for this, I use it all the time:)

    Good Luck,
    Joe.

I have had a similar situation with one of our sites. We just continued building links, then one day, we saw the jump in Google. From Page 2 to middle of page 1. We still continued through blog submissions, articles using Article Underground and Traffic Kahuna. We are currently number on for the very competitive phrase that we were after.

So if I am leaving comments on blogs and using name/url option I should put the keyword I am going after as my name and then the url to my site in url?

LINKS... LINKS... LINKS... If your vertical and targeted keyword phrase are competitive, you will never get there with on-page SEO. It comes down to links... specifically, lots of one way links from lots of relevant sites with lots of variations of the targeted keyword phrase(s) you want your URL to rank for as the link text of the hyperlink.

if you got in second you probably got good content all you need to do is support it with some quality links to boost it more.

It's not all about the backlinks but those are very important. The keys to attaining high SERP ranks include dofollow backlinks (quality and quantity), domain age, on-page optimization, and unique content. Plus you said this keyword is highly searched - well there you go. It's just the nature of the internet that highly searched terms will have a lot of competing sites. Maybe these competitors are even more SEO optimized than you are?

It just seems to come down to luck sometimes but that's the nature of how complex Google is. It's really all determined by a lot of math but we don't know what. All we can do is work at it and hope.

you need to get links from content sharing sites. dofollow links from content sharing sites are very helpful for high SERP.

Build only quality backlinks from sites with PR > 3. It is better if backlinks source sites have the same theme as your site.
