i have been reading quite a bit on the topic of seo,and have noticed that backlinks play an important role in improving search ranking.they are however quite a bit of work to get,and paid options are pretty pricey. do any one of you can offer or can you recommend a source of free back links to help get me started?

Hi rooney12, As the old saying goes "There's no such thing as a free backlink" There are a few sites out there which say they can put your link on to loads of directories in one go (though I can't vouch for their effectiveness) but you still need to spend some time writing an 'article' to spin for them. Google is getting better at spotting SEO tricks so my advice would be to concentrate on creating a brilliant and useful site which people will want to link to by themselves - what it calls 'organic growth'.
