Well you can try the method of just adding other people, and hope some of them add you back, it may be a good starting point at least.

 

If you joined twitter for promoting your site/blog. then search and add people from your niche in twitter. Most probably they will add you back. And thus you can know more things in your niche, from their tweets.

Use Hashtags like #Quote while tweeting as that will help you to get noticed by others more. And so more will follow you.


Be active! The more, the better! (Dont spam, plz)

If you like someones tweets, feel free to retweet it - I guarantee that they will love this and what you get is more followers.

I personally think if you are just starting with your website and want to promote it is to Re tweet users (using the "RT: @twitteraccountname") that offer information related to your site.

Also look for other tweets that are pertinent with your site content and add to follow them and give them a personal direct message. People usually get automated messages from other twitters in their inbox and consider that as spam(which I do too).

My guess is if you have to ask then you probably will never know. People who do know, have a good idea of how you. Your 1 sentence thread with terrible spelling/grammar. Well, I myself got around 10k followers quite easily within around 20 days ! It works mostly by cross-following other people who have themselves 10k or above followers on their account ! Just tweet something like "Hello guys ! Wassup " , and then follow 200-300 ppl, and expect 100 to follow you back ! I can explain you more too, just mail me at : asbookmark[@]gmail[dot]com ! You must be active member this is your beginning so you need to log in 4-5 different time in a day and must be follow the people those will follow you and also try to follow new people do not do any activity which shows spam then you will get trouble
