I've been reading around and a lot of people say that getting backlinks from .EDU domains will boost your PageRank. Is this really true & has anyone actually tested this theory? If that is the case... Is anyone willing to share with us some tips and strategies on how to get .EDU backlinks? I assume that .EDU backlinks will come from schools, colleges and universities? Some blogs are on .edu as well. My idea on generating backlinks from .EDU sites is from blogs. You visit .EDU blogs and post comments. But you most lilkly will have to post a few comments to get valid backlinks from that domain and so you won't look like your blog spamming... WHICH everyone hates! But are they articles that you can submit to .EDU sites? Like article directories on .EDU domains? Do owners of EDU domains swap backlinks? Ok, I know I have lots of questions but I'd like to start nice long discussion on this topic if it really does boost PR. Cheers! Benjamin
I can get you a full page post for $70 on an edu site, currently only from one edu domain but will have more in the future . I will link to your post from a page indexed by G . This site has a big trust rank in the SEs so this will be one valuable link, specially if you point a couple more links to it and get it indexed well .
Thanks guys for sending info on how to buy edu backlinks. But in case you were wondering I still haven't got an answer on what I'm really asking. Besides paying for backlinks anyone else have any tips and strategies they would care to post?
.edu links are only valuable if you own an educational site. See what matt cutts said about .edu links http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1756437348670651505
Thank you for the videos, after watching them I have found out many new things about SEO and link building in general.
ahhh! Makes a whole lot of sense coolsitez! Plus Matt Cutts does a good job explaining it all! I guess its off to other link building strategies for me like paying for blog reviews, directory submissions, article marketing... Social bookmarking... With all these other strategies I'm sure we won't miss out on EDU links. Thanks guys!
Most comment links will have the nofollow attribute so it won't help with the search engines. The only way you'll easily get a link from a .edu site is from spamming it and most of us don't go that route.
.edu links only make sense when your website' topic is related to domain.edu. otherwise the link value will be heavily discounted.
Officially, Google claims they don't show selection towards the domain extension. And that may be true, but it is also a fact that most .EDU domains have less links to poor quality sites, and more to trusted sites. This means that they will, on average, have a higher ranking power than other websites. A few other factors make .EDU websites more valuable than other links, but the main thing is to understand that they are nothing too special. Don't waste your money. And you absolutely need one, search Google for a .EDU forum or blog.
