I'm finding it difficult to gain .edu and .gov links. Does anybody have any suggestions/tips? Thanks in advance.
I too have found this difficult-- .edu links, especially those run by colleges, usually don't have up-to-date contact information. Sometimes there's a "webmaster" contact who doesn't have a clue about content.... or a professor/writer/student contact who doesn't have a clue how to update the website. .gov sites just don't care to respond to link inquiries. I'd love to know how to get edu and gov links. I've given up trying.
the easiest way to gain good backlinks from .edu and .gov is just search the term below in place of keyword type in the keyword orf your niche site:.edu inurl:blog “comment†-â€you must be logged in†-â€posting closed†-â€comment closed†“keyword†HTML: Hope this helps most of the people here
when will people understand that spamming a edu forum won't help? Edu links are valuable only if they are on valuable edu sites....come on is not that hard to understand that, is it?
I was able to secure .gov links by providing content and resources of a legal nature that appear to be authoritative. I was very fortunate to have my link mentioned in articles and writings by these government librarians which were published in their online newsletter. Give it a shot.
people are so obsessed with these so called EDU/GOV backlinks they they don;t even realize that these type of links wil not give them any additional benefit than regular .COM links. it doesn't take a rocket scientists to figure out that a link from a student blog or a student personal site linking to all kinda male enhancement sites are not passing any authority. if the link is from the main EDU or GOV site, then thats a different question.
What is the big deal if you managed to get .edu or .gov links? Is your content related to theirs? Instead of spending so much time and effort looking for .edu or .gov links, why no just spend more time writing good content or articles that are worth linking to. Who Knows? Someone out there might just like it and link it from their .edu or .gov sites that is of relevancy to yours.
Exactly, when you spam a .edu or .gov forum you lessen the value of that site. The best way to look at posting on such a forum is to do real posts, and become involved. Participate and you will get something out of it. When you post a topic you are starting pages for the site and you are adding to it's value and when you add productive posts you are only encouraging the forum and adding value. Spam it and you risk losing your membership and may draw the attention to other people who have joined for the reason of getting links.
Im sorry.... but can you tell me a reason for your search for .edu and .gov links ? Do you own or work for a college site (www.any-college-site.edu) that needs to be promoted via link exchange?
I never understood why people made such a big fuss about .edu and .gov links. People only say they are better because they are more likely to have a high PR! But that's the only reason as far as I know. If you can find dofollow blogs with high PR then it doesn't matter whether they are .gov .edu or .info
No, I am not affiliated with any college site. I just thought that .edu and .gov links were valuable, but after reading a lot of these replies, it sounds like they're not as valuable as I previously thought. Thanks for all of your replies. This has been educational.
