I use social media to get traffic to my website. SEO takes to much time and Google changes his rules all the time. We do not need to relly on Google anymore. In addition, Google counts on 25% to 30% of all the internet traffic. So we still have 70% to play with. I recommend you use Twitter, Blog posting on Yahoo and posting good quality comments on websites. Read, learn and make a good comment. If you want to know more about traffic I have a free ebook that can be downloaded from my website: Your Internet Marketing Secrets I hope I provided some valuable info. I wish you all the success online.
I have found from the traffic stats of my own sites that a lot of my traffic comes as direct links from my signature files in forums and blog posts. I agree with a couple of others on this thread that if you take the time to give well thought out responses and some free help to someone on their blogs/forums, then you own reputation grows and a lot of people will click your links because they are curious to know what you do. Other traffic comes from using long tailed keywords to rank well in Google for and running as many of my sites on blogging platforms so that they have continual updated content. Best wishes Lisa
Social bookmarking is a great way to get traffic but only if it is done properly. There is a fine line between posting links and spamming and sometimes you may not even realize that you are spamming until your account gets banned. The key to social bookmarking for traffic is to build your relationships, which still takes time.
The fastest way to get a ton of traffic is too write unique content directly for a Google News Site. 10,000 unique hits in one day is not unheard of and thousands of back-links which help your sites PR are a natural occurrence.
I just wrote an article for EzineArticles, and they approved it and said it would be on their front page within 48 hours. I checked out their traffic ranking on Alexa.com and was blown away!!! I would encourage everybody to write some good content and try to get their articles approved into that site ;--)
