We may all complain about different aspects of google, or adsense, or adwords, but i think everyone should agree with that. Adsense gives anyone (that qualifies) the opportunity to make money that no other program offers.

Sure there are other click based programs, and impression based programs, but none of them pay as well as adsense and none of them have as many advertisers. Before adsense I found it hard to make lunch money on the internet, now I plan for it to buy my house

Also Google does not simply ban a publisher for 'innocently' clicking on an ad once or twice. They WILL ban you for repeated clicks. Thay MAY ban you for a few clicks. If you click your ads in error ALWAYS email them to let them know you have done this in error and have taken corrective action so that it will not occur in the future.

This has worked for me in the past, when honest errors are made. The clicks in your account will show as $0.00. AdWord advertisers are not charged for this...and that's what really matters.
    I AGREE with this

Yes I understand it but I would of appreciated it if they gave me some warning when I clicked on my own ad instead of just banning me on the spot.

This thread is getting me paranoid. I accidentally clicked on an add and right away emailed them to let them know. Right now, I'm worried about something else: I have a channel that has 0 impressions and 1 click for a click through rate of 0%. I hope this is just an updating problem. I bet the computer will not look good on 0 impressions but with a click. I don't know how this happened, but in light of all the stuff I've been reading about, it has me worried.

You did the right thing by emailing them about the inadvertent click. And don't worry about the 0% thing. I've been seeing this a lot ever since they implemented the new CPM system.

You can get banned for jsut clicking on your ad once while your adsense window is open. Even so the odds are low, but it can still happen. Google can ban people for almost any reason. If you don;t want this problem don;t use adsense.

If ads are PSA (Public Service Ads) They don't pay so you should be alright if you accidently clicked one of those.
It is possible but highly unlikely. I have seen some tolerances from Google. I hired a webmaster a while ago and he click them in error a few times. Nothing happened other than $0 payout for those clicks. I am convinced that when people get banned it's usually from repetitive clicks. There are ALOT of people that just don't seem to get it.

Trust me...you will get banned (for life) if you continue to do this. :(

The adsense click fraud algo is very complicated. The exact formula is a closely guarded mystery so I doubt anyone knows how many tiems you would have to click or the intervals before google warns you or flags your account.

I have to agree. Banned for one accidental click? I don't think so. I've had many disagreements with the AS people over some of the domain names in my empire, but they've always been reasonable. Banning someone for 1 accidental click would be draconian, and that's not their style.

    As always, IMO.

Totally agree AmCy. Google knows our game better that we do. They know (probably understand) the odd mistake can happen. Just like Kernel Saunders recipe for chicken we will never know the Google tolerance recipe and they will probably never release it. But there is one. We are on planet earth...mistakes do happen. The only people that need to worry about click fraud are the ones doing it.

Accidental clicks can happen, and I'm sure Google factors that in, looking instead for patterns.

Have you tried contacting them? I'm pretty sure if its an honest mistake that they will not ban you, after all the more adsense users they have the more money they make.

Follow the advice of l234244...it can't hurt. To may find that there is, indeed, more to the picture.
