How to get Banned from DP?

Every now and again i stumble onto a thread that has a post from a banned member. And i am always curious how these people got banned. I know that these people didnt follow the forum guidlines/rules of this forum which resulted in their being banned. I realize that.

It just always surprises me... Often times if i look at a banned members posts they dont seem like a spammer or malicious in any way. Their posts often look pretty normal. So, it just makes me curious how exacltly these users got banned.

I guess the only people who can answer my question are Shawn and the mods. So, if you dont mind sharing, what are some of the more common reasons people get banned from the DP forums?

Depends on the crime. Often times if they were spamming, the spam posts were removed. Sometimes they're bots that come in and give junk info.

I was banned for swearing at someone in a different language in a post, but only for 2 days or something.

One reason is the new Infraction system.

If you get 10 infractions, system bans you automatically.

Most people with a post count over 100 aren't banned due to content of their posts. It is usually for doing something which is not visible to members but is in violation of the FAQ/Rules

THe infraction system now takes care of those who are banned due to content in thier posts such as abuse, spamming, etc

Sign up new and spam is a good way to do it. There's been 1,000 or so of those users.

The best thing to do is sign up with two ids, then start a thread and use the same ids to start a conversation, then gradually introduce a fair amount of insults and name calling. Use that famous "mother" insult and then click the little traingle to make sure the mods pick it up and BINGO!

PS. Do not try this at home unless you are an experienced DP user!

That's because the offending posts normally get removed along with the offender. "Disposed of" sounds cool.

Also, with the infraction system, you can end up get banned for a number of 'smaller' offences that add up to enough points to get banned. In such a case you might not find any really bad posts either.

But really, the list of offenses is too big to list :(

I was banned for about 24 hours for wanting to change my username by signing up a new account. It got sorted out and the ban was lifted.

Most of the people who are banned use vulgar, make person attacks, or are spammers.

You don't just get banned out of the blue.
