I guess you have a PR6 site, which is really great. If you are asking for the same site, then I would suggest you to contact the sites which your relevant niche with higher PR as well as high traffic. Try to convince them to have a link exchange. Directory submission and posting links in the signature forums is what everyone usually does. But getting a link exchange or a link on other sites is what it counts

First I would say that I hope it's better than the site in your footer that only says "file upload" for the entirety of it's content.
Second, if all it is is a simple little spammy adsense site with the sole purpose of getting people to click on your adsense ads then I would say your chance of getting any real back links are next to none.
If I read your post wrong and the site does actually have real unique content and is actually something someone would want to go to for something other than clicking on ads then I would say ask other webmasters to link to you, if they wont offer to buy a link back from them.
