which are the most reliable sources to buy links do i approach websites directly or there are some agencies?
Do comments on High rank do follow blog, it is very quick to create backlink from blogs but don't do spam! Better: comment on dofollow blog which has a top commentator plugin!
You can buy them from this forum http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58 1.Article submission to a few good directories 2.forum posting 3.social bookmarking 4.blog comment 5.yahoo directory ($299 per year) 6.press release Personally I find link exchange and directory submission require too much effort but too little gained, so not worth the time. Good way is to copy your competitor like what a lot have mentioned, but if you know what you're doing you can spot what your competitors are doing wrong and take the shortcut to beat them. In other words, more relevant, higher quality links. Do NOT try to get 35,000 backlinks in 2 days, you'll get dropped by homie G if you do that.
The problem with buying backlinks is that when you stop paying for them, they go away and when this happens, the search engines see it. Since there is no good reason for inbound links from a website to disappear suddenly, your site will be penalized and will lose a significant amount of ranking. You are much better either putting in the effort to build natural inbound links or paying someone to do it for you. If your site is Wordpress based, there are plugins you can purchase that will do a good portion of the work for you, so that's another option.
Updated content, link building (via a mix of links from article directories, blog commenting, forums, social bookmarking, directory submissions (these aren't as strong as they used to be but they are still worthwhile particularly if done in a 'link mix', web 2/social sites, blogs, etc.). Don't focus too much energy on PR, focus on GETTING LINKS!
Try to search for websites that are related to your niche and build some link to them maybe by comments or post. Choose the sites you can see on the first page of Google results because these sites have high pr.
