Yes, commenting on blogs is a great way to generate traffic, because on most blogs you are allowed to leave a link back to your site, but this only works well IF ... your comments are a great addition to the topic discussed. That means you really have to read the posts and make interesting comments that contribute to the value of the post and the blog. The blog owner will be happy with that. Some of them even reward you with a link back without the NOfollow feature enabled. That means a one-way back link! The sooner you comment, the more traffic you will generate, as all other readers get to see your link too. The amount of traffic highly depends on the blog you're commenting at and the quality of your comments. Also keep in mind, that if you post high quality comments, you can start building a relationship with the blogger. Although it will not always happen, chances are that this will lead to exchanging links, or, even better, guest posting with a link back to your site. Also remember to vary your anchor text in back links and that you should not only link back to your domain, but to individual pages too. Deep linking works like charm.
Blogs are definitely an excellent way to get backlinks to your site. There are also a lot of social marketing sites that you could use to accomplish the same thing, in addition to having those pages in the top 10 of Google Search Results. Sites like Scribd, Squidoo, etc. would do that. Also check the link in my signature. It is a brand new site, only a week or so old that will allow you to submit articles, and get a backlink to your site for free. There is no limit to how many articles you can submit either. If you decide to signup, let me know and I'll see if I can find a good SEO ebook for you for free, or some other ebook that will help you in your efforts. If you don't believe me about the rankings, Google "Qassia Dollars". My scribd document on Qassia Dollars is number 1. My blog on Qassia is number 3. The wonderful thing about scribd though, is I got that #1 ranking almost immediately. Update: Just noticed the rss feeds suggestion. Check out rsshugger.com and wordhugger.com. Those will also help.
Forum posting with link in signature could make lot of backlinks. Besides Sitepoint You should try it at webmaster-talk, earners forum, marketingchat
you go here on the buy/sell forum and buy "backlink building service" from some guy for a few bucks. Thats the lazy method
ownsite, I thought I should always be using the same anchor text which is the keywords that I am targetting. Do you recommend for example linking back the same page in my domain with different anchor texts?
@chiggins You should use your main keywords for the page you're referring to, but change the anchor text. Examples for keyword internet marketing: internet marketing, internet marketing expert, internet marketing strategies, tips on internet marketing etc. Make sense?
Think up and write about the most interesting topics you can, and submit the very best ones to Digg.com, and other social bookmarking sites. You could also try Myspace, Facebook etc. Build up an active profile, with a big friend list, and put some prominant links on your page And the most old-fashioned route....buy some
Link baiting is working for one of my sites. I write stuff that pisses people off and they just have to rebuttal me on their site and give a link back. Also when writing a post, if you link to another blog(trackbacks) and completely disagree with them(or better yet, offend them) they'll write a post about how much they think you're wrong.
put your links in the signature, and often active in related forum I sure this way can get some back links
If my site doesn't have any RSS feed means may I submit my site on those sites which are having RSS feed? can you give me one RSS feed site? Thanks,
If you search the FREEBIES section you can sometimes find people giving away free blog posts on their own blogs.
