    so alexa doesnt worth the hassle i wonder why do they only count visitors with toolbar if they count all visitors it would be more fair...

    You either install Alexa tool bar or go to http://alexa.com/site/ds/top_500 and enter your site address like www.yoursite.com into the "get traffic details" text box at the top of the page.

    Some people uses automated softwares to gain alexa rank. Put your website name and the software will hit alexa with different ip's. I Dont know more, just google......

    you dont require to put a code in your site. but they get traffic info from alexa tool bar. Users have this tollbar installed on their browsers send information about traffic to alexa server.

    You need to install the tool bar on your system. Alexa ranks every site based on the traffic it is getting. Hence everytime you open your own site on your system, the tool bar tracks the stats of traffic and helps to update your rank. In case your site is opened by some body else having the alexa toolbar, the toolbar still collects the traffic stats and updates the alexa system.. :)

    If you put the alexa widget on your site than your visitors don't need to have the toolbar installed for Alexa to record traffic. I would suggest installing the widget and hoping for the best.
