    The key to Alexa is traffic and lots of it. You need to have good content to be successful on the web. If you do that, Alexa will come. Keep in mind that depending on the niche there may be only so much web traffic on those key words

    it helps but you can also place the alexa widget on your site. I have a shop that was 1.2million for the longest time, I installed the widget and its down to 600k and dropping.

    You need a lot of traffic. Also, if your site is new, it will take a while to get alexa ranked.

    Downloading the toolbar will only bring your site from the millions to the 800,000-1,000,000 range. You will need more visitors than yourself to get a really good ranking. One good tip I heard is to write an article (if you have a blog) about decreasing your Alexa rank. Most people who are interested in decreasing their Alexa rank already have the toolbar installed which will help you lower your own ranking

    Does the Mozilla Firefox Alexa add-on works like the same as the toolbar of alexa on ie? I tried to install alexa toolbar on ie but my antivirus treated it as a spyware.

    just checked it, and it has not alexa rank. your site is not of webmaster niche, so people that comes to your site has less chance for having an alexa toolbar installed. 5million is huge, try to get it a bit less and your rankings will not go away!:)
