Don't focus on Alexa ranking much... It doesn't matter at all...Usually the SERPs and traffic really matters....Focus on them.

 

Yes traffic, ad and sales income are what matters, but when you have traffic on your site, then your Alexa rating is going up.

If you're trying to get your alexa rank down under a million, just install the toolbar and crawl your own site and watch your rank drop, but this will only get you so far. After that, you just need to hope that users with the toolbar installed visit your site.

 

As i heard (didnt try yet) if you use alexa redirect to your content it gets well rankings. I'll try.

I'm < 80000 with one of my websites and the other one just went up 40000 places recently.

Nop ... no spyware. Just detects which websites you are browsing and sends the data to alexa.

 

Install search status toolbar and you will see that your site is going in to better positions everyday, I installed a week ago and I have a site, which has almost no traffic, but alexa rank of 1000000

 

It's normal to get better positions because you browse your website and the Alexa toolbar detects that. The Alexa rank is calculated by the number of users that visit a certain website and have Alexa toolbar installed.

 

You need traffic with alexa toolbars installed on the visitors

You can go to alexa.com and add your site for them to crawl. You can also modify some of the information <edit> about your site on Alexa.

Eventually they will crawl your site.

Also, each visitor that has the Internet Explorer Alexa Toolbar installed or is using the Firefox plugin called Alexa Sparky will count as traffic on your site.

*You don't actually need to submit your site to Alexa, but it does help them to find it sooner.

*Also, if you tend to send or get much traffic from sites like DP on your site, you'll get a better rating, as many of the members here have the toolbar/plugin installed for their own reasons.
