How to get ahead of the competition on Google

    I am running a travel website www.gaytorremolinos.eu and even though I often post news, have loads of correct key words and quite many pages, the website is stuck on the 2nd position on Google.

    There is only one major competitor site with the same keywords: gay torremolinos. The other site has less pages and still steadily #1 position on Google.
    Any ideas on how to improve my site to finally get to the #1?

    What is the position of your only competitor? Probably your back links are not from good PR site and you did not work properly on your key word. How long you are trying on that word? Need to know a lot actually, to help.

    WHich site is older?

    ´Check the backlinks the other site has, and try to get links from the same locations!

    Check their on page optimization!

    Whats about social media? This is getting more and more importnat in the eyes of Google, so you should work on this "new" part of seo as well!

    if you want to get position 1 you have to get quality backlinks, quality backlinks means backlinks from PR 4, 5 or above 6 when got these high quality backlinks your site will get top of the google.

    Yeah going for quality backlinks.Some good link building techniques includes guest blogging, forum posting,blog commenting,directory submission,social bookmarking and networking,video submission e.t.c.

    Its not about how many pages your website have, it's about the number of quality back links a website has from related websites. Check the number of back links for your competitor's web page which ranks on top in Google. Compare these links with yours and you'll know the difference.

    You can try with 'Keyword Country'... It gives you an idea of how much SEO and PPC traffic competing pages are getting. You may start with its free trial version.
