    Hi

    I went to fedex site yesterday and used their Get Rates & Transit Times features. I tried to ship a self packing package with dimension 7x5x5 and weight 1 lb from NY to AK: zip code: 11352 to 99803. I put the shipping date to 9-5-08. The services came up to be Home Delivery, 2nd day and Overnight. Today I went there again and the services came up were Ground, 2nd day and Overnight. what happened to Home delivery and prices changes a lot ? Does anyone know why ?

    Did you check off "Residential Address" yesterday and forget to check it today? It sounds like you got the home delivery rates yesterday and the business rates today.

    I just found out, you are right! Thanks a lot! Is it ok with Fedex or UPS if the shippers address is a P.O. Box address?

    Nah, you cannot ship UPS or FedEx to a PO box, only to physical street addresses. You can use the USPS Priority Mail to deliver to PO boxes and it is, sometimes, cheaper. Of course there is no tracking. I know the USPS will say they have tracking, but they only have delivery confirmation.

    And:

    Delivery Confirmation != Tracking

    I know that you can not ship to a p.o.box address. My question is what if the shipper uses a P.O.box address and the receiver has a physical address, can you still use UPS and Fedex ?

    I dunno. Never tried that. UPS/FedEx might need a place they can return the package if the delivery address is no good. Go to one of those drop off places and ask them. I always shipped from a physical address. Btw, if you are going to ship with UPS/FedEx very often it makes a pretty substantial difference to set up an account.

    Thank you very much! Why UPS cost so much to ship an 7x5x5 weight 1 lb item to AK from NY, cost $32 ground!

    Maybe you should try USPS Priority mail, I think it would be considerably cheaper. The did, at one time, have a flat rate envelope for ~$5. I think their 1 pound rate is pretty good, actually. Just get the delivery confirmation and insurance and you are still going to be less than the $32 for UPS I would think.
