How to get a server going. I need your opinions

Alright guys. I'm having a problem with my hosting.

I absolutely hate my hosting. Its stupid becuase I don't want to buy too much or I'll be wasting all of my cash, but then I'm always throwing up tons of sites.

Now I'm running a site that will be getting very large and before it does get huge I'd like to maybe get my own server. I've never looked it up before so I ask now.

What do most webmasters do to get their own server, where do they get them?

There are plenty of dedicated server providers out there, many of them provide lower cost solutions as well, however I would recommend doing some research for reviews before picking just any provider..

there are some questions for you
    1. how many unique visitors do you have a day?
    2. how many people online AT THE SAME TIME on your website?
    3. on which platform? Linux? Windows?
    4. how about your server management experience?

So you just told me to find one? ..............

    1. On my wack load bunch of sites. ahh, maybe 7000UV per day. But I need the server on a major project that should make that go as far as 50,000.
    2. I have no idea. I don't track when people are online becuase many of my sites are informational sites and people don't need to login and what not.
    3. Platform? Who knows! lol. I'd think that Linux would be better and more stable but windows will probably be more compatible for a vbullitin along with my other sites.
    4. I never touched a server before.

I think I'm going to die with this kind of support here. I'm truly happy that you got your own and it would be nice if I did the same it just becuase of all of this Apatchy stuff and whatever it takes to get one running and keep it running may be too much for myself.

I orginally want a server soon so that I need not to worry about bandwidth and space. Not only that but I have tons of sites.

I won't recommend server hardware but if you a completly new to server administration you might want to think about paying a server management company or even buying a managed server to make sure your server is secure.

Do you have any site using ASP or .NET. If not, stay with Linux box.

Disk space and bandwidth are not very important as the server performance. How many sites have 50K UV per day that you want to put on this server?

    I agree with this :)

This is probably my best way to go but where and who offers this that is secure. The prices are so dramatically different that I can't really tell what's a good deal or what isn't.

Know of any sites out there?
