How to get a REFUND from FILESONIC

Discussion in 'Legal Issues' started by TheSyndicate, Feb 16, 2012.

I paid lifetime to Filesonic. I open a ticket and they just keep saying ask Pay Pal to make a refund and that is impossible. They need to pay me back the money but they keep answer the same questions all over again, ask Pay Pal.

Anybody here got a refund from Filesonic after they "closed"

If you paid by credit card, fairly recently, you may be able to do a chargeback.

If you paid with Paypal funds, I'd say there isn't much hope...

Agreed, you are pretty much SOL on this one. I lost 4 months worth, but, oh well. I just want to be clear of them, but, in reality, no one is. If you ever downloaded content from them, that was not yours, you can rest assured it will be analyzed during the litigation processes. Whether they ever go after individuals for downloading remains to be seen (I doubt it, but it would be legal).

Hmm, well some people have short lifetimes and so do some companies. Perhaps they, and paypal, consider that you did get a membership for the lifetime of Filesonic? At least that is what I would assume their position would be.

What were your reasons for using filesonic, if it was to download illegal stuff uploaded by people that have no right to distribute these items then tough shit, you have no-one but yourself to blame and should stop whinging about it and move on.
When you signed up for your "lifetime" account did it state how long a lifetime lasts for ??, legally you don't have a leg to stand on and the sooner the rest of the illegal filesharing websites are shut down and the owners banged up the better.

my reason was totally legit i have not got any files deleted by them. So no they have no right to delete my earnings and file sharing options. I paid for a life time with sharing options not some low drop box version. When you say life it means MY life not theirs and i am still alive and kicking. and just FYI they have done the same thing not long time ago and they probably be back soon with ANOTHER NAME.

When a company goes under, for whatever reason, the 'little guy' is pretty much last in the list of creditors. Which is why your only option is probably to see if you attained any 'protection' based on the payment method you used. (credit card, etc).

Common sense also says they can't provide a service when they don't exist.

And did it say in their terms when you signed up that life meant YOUR life? I very much doubt it.

Brownster! :) :) Common sense seems to be sadly lacking on this thread. In fact, why the hey are we all here? His 'lifetime membership' probably only cost a few bucks...

I think he should sue them for going out of business as a breach of contract. Maybe the courts will force them to re-open and run an illegal, money losing business, until his lifetime is over. ;)

They need to shut down all file-sharing sites.

There is no legit purpose to have one but to share files that most likely are copyright material.

and they do not need to pass any freedom stripping new laws to get it done either.

    Well said!!

And i for one am pissing myself laughing because he and all the other retards that pay to use illegal file sharing sites have lost their money, and it absolutely defies belief that they think they have been wronged in some way.

I am not sure really whats going on with this forum. How can you defend a two time scam company? So all normal servers should also shut down? You know there is legit files to share as well?

They only disable their site for temporary time.

Lifetime = Their own life time, not your.. :)
