I have a business website and I would like to be able to use SMS authentication. Much the same as how Paypal sends a SMS text from a 5 digit number. How do I get one of these 5 digit numbers? Also, how do I have SMS texts sent from my website. I am looking for a general idea because I have no idea where to start

    Hello,

I'm a representative of SmsCoin project that provides SMS payments platform across 88 countries. I think I can help you with your question.
What kind of a service are you planning to provide your customers with? We have various solutions that use SMS authentication on your website - http://smscoin.net/info/services/
SMS text are sent from your website using a special payment page containing the instructions fro sending SMS - this is in short.

If you need further information you can send me a private message, and I will be happy to assist you.

    Good day

you have to check 2-way sms gateway. when you send sms, you can use Sender ID (your phone number or company name)
for sms sending from website you have to check API for sending via HTTP

Regarding the shortcodes (Around 5 digits number) it depends in which country, there are different rules on how to get them, price, etc. The easiest way is to work with an aggregator that will get you that number and you can do 2 way traffic. You can send to the end user and receive messages from them. If this is in the US, it takes a long time until you can start sending as you need to register your campaigns for the operators to approve, etc.

If you only need to send to the end user, you can just use a service that allows you to send dynamic sender ID and you can set in the originator field the value you need (depending on network and country - not in the US).
