Why are you asking for advice then Seriously you asked for a cup of tea, if you wanted Earl grey or English Breakfast you should have specified. You say your not interested in links from PR3 and the like pages, big mistake, as I posted above a link is a link. a link from a pr3 page with 5 links on it can be worth more in PR transfer value than a link from a PR5 with 40 links on it. But I am sure you are aware of that, as there is nothing anyone can tell you about page rank Seriously though, why do you feel the need to get a PR5? My site was PR5, it dropped to PR4 as I don't promote it at all, and therefore as the web grows it will always drop back. But PR makes such a small impact on ranking it really isn't worth worrying about. Unless of course your looking to sell links.
I agree... I think the best way is to get links from higher page rank sites and then let those links mature....
Sometimes the obvious basics, are overlooked when trying to attain high PR. 1) Content is king. Keeping that content fresh is essential. 2) Linking to relevant sites, submitting to niche directories, and submitting to major search engines and directories. Varying anchor text and descriptions, and pointing links to more then just your homepage. 3) Having a current site map in place. I’m amazed how often site maps are outdated. All of our client sites are PR4 and above, hard work but certainly worth the effort.
Thanks for your comments. I've read a lot and I have a basic understanding of how PR works (as almost every webmaster does), what I'm asking for is some tips, stories etc. from other people's experience and there were some very useful posts here. Hope to see some more...
I thought maybe he was joking at first, then I looked. It's been a few days, but what I recall is "small organizations" can join for that amount. I was left wondering if individuals could join. And I never saw anything like "hey members, put your links here!", but the reading was making my head hurt. The fee structure is more confiscatory the more succesful you or your country is...I think...a little fuzzy on that.
You have to be careful about paying for high PR links, many sites don't pass PR because they have sold links. I learned the hard way... Focus on quality link exchanges, buying links will only hurt you in the long run. Once you stop paying for the links your PR will drop again, what good is temporary PR.
I have submitted to DMOZ and "if the link is reviewed" and acceptted it will show up on a PR1 or 2 page . Category- "website designers" How is that supposed to get me PR5 in google ? Regards jeet
many other directories use the DMOZ reults. Therefore many inbound links will result other than the one page.
I know that when a site is listed in DMOZ shortly afterward it's backlinks jump up . You can spend endless amounts of time trying to figure DMOZ out. Best strategy is submit and forget. If you get listed the inbound links are worth it.
how much average time do you think it takes for a site to get Listed on the DMOZ after being submitted
How did this become a thread about DMOZ? For the original question, I can tell you what I've done to not get a PR5 site. Original content with lots of natural links, but those natural links don't have high PR. One of these days I'll step up my SEO knowledge from beginner to intermediate, and try to figure out how to get to a higher PR, but for now, I'll just say that natural links aren't the way to high PR.
I agree! get good relevant links on pages that are at minimum in the google index , and let the PR mature. Buying high PR links IMO is just a waste of money. money which could be better spent on fine tuning your site, building quality content, and building relevant links.
What if you have "many" natural links coming in ? Would that statement still ... What if a page with natural link of yours picks PR ? You have already seen 0PR pages picking 5 in a single PR update . Million dollar homepage went from 0 to 7 . However I read a post here stating that page doesn't transfer PR . P.S For DMOZ the average ranges from 1 year to never . Regards jeet
