How to get a high PR?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by DomainMagnate, Nov 3, 2005.

I have a PR3 site, the site is clean and interesting, has good content and google ranks it well too, but... I want it to be a PR5, so what should I do? How to get high PR links?

    - Exchanging links probably won't help much, because most of other sites may only offer links on low PR pages, it may be good for traffic and search ranks, but I'm asking here about the PR.
    - Submitting to directories? Well, I've done that already. But still most of the directories only provided me a link at PR0-PR3 pages.
    - Buying links? That may help indeed, if buying links from PR6 pages, but it won't be cheap I guess...
    - Anything else?

Any useful tips from those of you who have high PR sites are highly appreciated...

    thanks, _Mike_

Look at the directories a little closer, you should be able to get some pr5's that way.

PR is all about links to your site and nothing else. It doesn't matter how good the content is or how nice the site looks. Relevant link exchanges are your best best (or articles) - but take the most time. Look at the top ranking sites for the keyword you are targeting and see who link to them. A high PR isn't going to do anything for your rankings unless the pages that link to you are from relevant sites in the same sector. I have no problem getting a PR5 for a site, but that isn't to say it doesn't take some work.

What are some of your best ways to get high PR links?
So how exactly do you get PR5?

PR is relative, so if you need a score of say 400 (made up amount for ease of explanation) to get PR5 then you need say 1 x 400 value link, or maybe 2x200 or 4x100 or 400x1 Se how it works now ;)

If you want a PR5 (although god knows why it is so important to you) then JUST GET LINKS, and KEEP getting links until you get a PR5 after a PR update!

Too simple!!! I need something more complicated! :)

Mike, in case you haven't picked up on it, I think most are more focused on ranking in the serps for keywords. I guess page rank is part of that, but it's more of an indicator than a cause of anything. The self-actualized webmaster views pagerank as a reflection of his harmony with the webspace. To chase this reflection instead of working on the thing that created it will lead to disharmony and disregular bowel movements. (just a sec. ...the incense needs relit)

Guys, please don't post anything like "to get a high PR you need more links".
I may look like a stupid (in my avatar LOL) but I know everything you can tell me about PageRank, search ranks, links etc.
I posted this to hear some stories and tips from those who did managed to get high PR.
    Only advanced tips please.

But you cannot have more tea if your cup is already full, grasshopper.

Just kidding. I think the question does roughly translate into "How do I get more or higher quality inbound links" Focusing on PR for PR's sake has a few doing the knee jerk. But I guess you've aired that out now and I'll be quiet. :)

Sorry Mike... I don't really know what your looking for. The link I gave you pretty much tells you what you already know. If you want high PR get loads of low pr links, or a few high pr links.

Thanks, I see that you have a PR5 site www.villas2u.com

So what did you do to get your PR5?

Did you just submitted to 100-300 free directories, exchanged some links, may be bough some.. anything else?

    thanks, _Mike_

Adding Content to your site also helps. Internal links are counted differently but still counted. Most high PR sites also have a very high number of pages within the site.

You've pretty much got it there Mike.

    1) I started off with reciprocal links. Decided that was a real pain in the ass (asking for them and making sure the other site keeps them up.

    2) Submitted to all the free directories I could find.

    3) Submitted to all the paid directories I could find with decent pr (3+ per category) and weren't too expensive.

    4) Wrote some articles and submitted those to a few directories.

I've mostly got one-way links and a few reciprocals.

thanks a lot for the info.
I'm now submitting my site to directories too. So far I submitted it to 50 out of about 250. Just curious in case you've tracked you submissions, how many of those directories really included your site?
Which paid directories could you recommend, BTW, do they allow to submit different sites (on different domains) for one fee?

    thanks :)

To be honest, when I submit to free directories, I submit and forget. The only time I've wasted is the minute or two it took to submit the site.

Keep your eye on the solicitations forum. These are people looking for you to list, so you're virtually guaranteed the link.
