Back links. A lot of them to get on first page. Also depends on your niche.

As for being indexed submit to a few link directories and you should be indexed in a few days.

Put a link in a post on dp and submit a post from the blog to digg. It will be indexed within a few days.

How much easier do you want?

indexing is different then ranking. You can get your blog indexed in 1 or 2 days but it can take you years to rank in the first page, given that you are looking for the silver bullet

Getting pages indexed is relatively easy, getting them ranked on the first page for your desired search term isn't easy at all. If it was everyone would be on the first page. Generally the quicker you get a high ranking the quicker you lose it, these things take time.

Submit a sitemap and get links from high PR sites. That's basically it.

    Hi rayner-x,

I suggest you use http://www.blogger.com because it is
    owned by Google.

This is the first service I used to create my very first blog
and it took only 3 days to be indexed in Google.

Something important: I created a blog in a VERY competitive
area, I tried to optimise it for special keywords, but the
    competition was too fierce.

Also, if you want to get indexed the quickest way on Google,
try to submit 2 posts a day, that is an effective way to get
indexed also. But becareful not to create a website based on
    keywords that nobody search for!

Finally, focus on producing high quality posts = that your
readers enjoy to read, then write interesting unique articles
and submit them to article directories like ezinearticles.com
this can bring you a high quality traffic, and this can help you
get your site appreciated by Google for example.

You'll find great advice on DigitalPoint, also don't forget to
take a look on the links in the bottom of this page, you'll find
    "related threads".

    Good luck ;)
    SSG.

If you're using Wordpress for your blog, there is a Google Sitemap plugin. Use that and you'll get indexed in no time.

another way is to visit several forums and ask for a link exchange then post a live link (if your allowed depends on the number of post).

No need to submit your blog since forums are frequently visited by bots.

The quickest way IMO, is to get a link on a site that already gets crawled. When I put up a new site I simply link it to an established site. I'll give you an example.

http://www.cigarlife.net is new, I basically linked it here (which is about 2 years old) , it got indexed in less than a week and after 2 months has a PR of 3.
