I've got a Godaddy domain, mysite.com, but I would like it to automatically forward it to www.mysite.com However, my site is hosted elsewhere, and when I specify godaddy to forward to WWW.mysite.com, it still goes to mysite.com. Any suggestions? This does affect SERPs, correct, because the SE's see it as two different sites? On a side note, in 1and1, I can handle the subdomains even if I'm not hosting with them, so forwarding mysite.com to www.mysite.com worked fine. If anyone knows how to do the same in GoDaddy, that would help. Thanks in advance.
As far as I know this is not possible at Godaddy and it has to be done via .htaccess on your actual hosting service if it supports PHP or ASP programming languages. Though some people fear get penalized for duplicate content (www and non-www), I have seen the biggest sites on the net ignoring this so you can still access them either way. ·
Thanks, that's what I figured with GoDaddy. So when people use google analytics and such tools, do they stick with the www, or register both w. and w/o it?
