In GoDaddy you can manage the DNS for the domain. Set it to Hostgator's nameservers and you're all set (after 24-48 hours propagation time).

After you sign up with Hostgator you will receive an email that contains 2 dns names which you can just copy and paste into your godaddy domain settings.

You can also find the dns at the bottom left of your cpanel with hostgator. Just copy these and paste into the appropriate place on your godaddy management page.

Yep, just go into your godaddy account and change the nameservers over to hostgator. They were given to you when you signed up or you can find them at the bottom left of your cpanel (as stated above). It might take 24-48 hours to propagate but I have never had one take even close to that long. Usually it is really fast.

This is a very basic thing. Sadly, I myself, I have been wondering with this question before. Do we have a section here in DP that concerns with this type of basic questions in putting up a site?

it's basic matter, but dont worry I also pass it whe the first time learning in blogging...
You just need to set the DNS name at godaddy (your dmain) to Host gator nameserver,.. (hostgator name server for your account usually sent to your email)
