I don't think that is enough weight to throw up a red flag to Yahoo. The sites getting the axe have over 10,000 points directed to them.

I'm not so sure. Every site I have that has been banned has had no where near 10k of weight pointed at it. I am under the impression there are a number of factors involved and that the Coop itself is a "red flag" to yahoo and if you have a enough other "red flags" along with the "Coop", poof goes site.

The 3000 points of weight to one site I am running it on, hasn't tripped and alerts to Yahoo.

I have the same problem I have a site that was banned in Yahoo few weeks after I build thousand of links to them (I bought the links). I have been trying for more than 6 months to get the site back, but still couldn't not. I have tried everthing including writing to Yahoo, change a better host and etc. Can someone help?

The only way to get it back is to correct the problem that got it banned and keep hounding Yahoo to be re-indexed.

Web gazelle, the site that you have the 3000 weight pointed to, does it have co-op ads running on it?

I don't think this is an issue of having too much or too little weight pointing at a site. I think sites are being banned for having the ads on the pages somehow.

Yes the ads are on the site but the site is showing today so I think it was something with an MSN update that cause the 24 hr drop.

This is pretty much my conclusion as well.. The only thing I have found wrong with the sites that I have had banned are the fact that they have the Coop ads on them. Pointing weight to them does not seem to be the issue, since many of those running the ads have no weight pointed to them. They are just relatively recent sites with Coop ads running...

    Argh...

As I had posted here, I somehow got my site back into the index.

I wrote a carefully crafted email not only describing the problem with my site being delisted but also questioning why they locked down the results for an industry they are in, placing themselves at #1. And though I did also outline the proof for this, I made sure I wasn't accusatory. Meaning, I wanted to let them know that I knew what they were doing but at the same time I didn't want to piss anyone off.

    I sent two emails.

The first was to the normal yahoo search inquiry page that other people have used.

The second email I submitted was through Investor Relations. Specifically, I made the email attention to Jeff Weiner, Senior Vice President, Search and Marketplace.

Here is where I submitted it.
    http://yhoo.client.shareholder.com/comment.cfm

So, what I did was express my concern as a shareholder of Yahoo that these types of actions would have adverse affects on the strength of Yahoo Search in an industry already saturated with competition. I said that it could undermine the grass-roots support base that got Yahoo to where it is today. I praised them for their continued commitment to innovation and conceded that with any medium as widely used as online search you can't make everyone happy. I realize that they have to stay true to the integrity of the method and process of their search listings. With search spam being such a major concern for all search engines I continued to articulate that I understand that some measures need to be taken to counteract these sites. Not unlike the enhanced security at our airports where many suffer the inconvenience so that all may be a little safer.

However, I also stated that it is equally important to take the steps to assure that legitimate sites are not caught in a wide net. These false positives are unacceptable, even if it means that some spammers ARE caught. State and Federal law protects businesses from receiving unfair or biased treatment. The FTC also protects consumers from being deceived in that there is a common public knowledge that ALL natural search results are unbiased and ranked without prejudice. I MADE SURE, that I spoke from the perspective of a concerned shareholder and NOT a pissed off webmaster.

I even went on to quote the company's core values found here:
    http://docs.yahoo.com/info/values/

    Specifically these two:
    Excellence:
We are committed to winning with integrity. We know leadership is hard won and should never be taken for granted. We aspire to flawless execution and don't take shortcuts on quality. We seek the best talent and promote its development. We are flexible and learn from our mistakes.

    Customer Fixation:
We respect our customers above all else and never forget that they come to us by choice. We share a personal responsibility to maintain our customers' loyalty and trust. We listen and respond to our customers and seek to exceed their expectations.

I don't know which email worked, or if it was the email at all. What I do know is that I removed all coop weight pointing to my site, and I submitted these two emails. I did get the same canned response that everyone else got from the first email inquiry. I never did get a response from the Investor Relations.

As I stated in my other post. I had removed all coop links pointing to the other 3 sites that I had banned as well. Yet I didn't submit any emails from those sites. They are still delisted. It appeared that my emails may have reached the right person.

I have no confirmed proof that the emails worked. Maybe my getting back in had nothing to do with the emails, but I have a MAJOR site with hundreds of thousands of visitors that got banned. At one point it had 1.8 million links (acquired in a 60 day period). It now has about 260,000.

The site isn't just back in; it is ranked fairly well in VERY competitive terms. #1 in dozens of them.

    Hope this helps.
