It looks as though the sites that got the axe are ones with over 10,000 points of weight directed to them. If you want to contact yahoo about your site you just go to the policies page and click the button that says "NO" the information didn't help you. That will bring up a form you can fill out and submit to them.
I think there is more to it than that. I have sites that have more than that pointed at them that were not de-listed. But they are sites that have been around since 97'. It seems only the newer sites, say the last year or two that have problems with ANY weight
Forgive the lamer newbie question - but can anyone suggest the best way to go about contacting Yahoo! to ask them why they've banned a site? They've banned all but two of mine, I swear there is nothing even remotely questionable about the sites they've banned. They ranked very well in Yahoo! for years.
Look at my first post at the top of this page. http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-05.html at the bottom of the page is the button your looking for. Good Luck.
I found Yahoo to be responsive to me.. I sent them a question last friday about a site where the homepage was not showing up for its unique name keyword at all. They sent me back a nice letter late monday/early tuesday with a response and some suggestions and even pointed out something that was likely specifically the cause. I sent an email to google on a similar but not the same issue, and they still havent gotten back to me.
Yahoo does respond and I have heard of people getting sites re-indexed. I will give that one to them.
Outside of calling the SBC operator? I really do not know. Even if you do get ahold of someone it is not like they are going to be in a posistion to make a command decision.
I got my answer from Yahoo. It looks like they may feel the coop is a "link farm", at least that is what I read into it. I asked them why one of my sites (content rich) was removed from their directory. Again, it is content rich, purely informational, is not selling anything, is well established, well indexed and a PR5. It went poof... Here is part of their letter: "Thanks for writing the Yahoo! Search and Directory Support. I understand that you have a question about why your site does not appear in Yahoo! Search. It has been determined that your site may not comply with Yahoo!'s Content Quality Guidelines located at: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-05.html. Below are some answers to common questions regarding this issue: Q: What are some of the common reasons that a site may violate Yahoo!'s Content Quality Guidelines? A: Yahoo!'s Content Quality Guidelines (link above) outline what we are and are not looking for in pages that we index. Listed below are some of the more common examples of how a site may violate these guidelines: - Cloaking (showing crawlers deceptive content about a site) - Massive domain interlinking- Use of affiliate programs without the addition of substantial unique content - Use of reciprocal link programs (aka "link farms") - Hidden text - Excessive keyword repetition " I am currently looking for keyword repetition, and the other things they are complaing about, none of which I can find. I have NO HIDDEN TEXT. I am not using affiliate programs. I am not cloaking anything. There was no reason to. Just an FYI this particular site was set up purely as informational, not to make money or create traffic. It is just a "cause" I like and something I thought others should do as it concerns the future of their own children at birth. I am confident there is nothing on the site that is listed in the above "Violations of Yahoo's draconian TOS", save for ..... It's all bullshit, pure and simple to me. Anyway, I am emailing for clarification. Once I make sure that the only violation on the site is the Coop, I am going to re-submit it and ask them if it is now acceptable. Hell, I will even pull all the adsense off of it as well so it is strictly 100% content with NO ADS! Stay tuned...
I think it's a little more complicated than that. Say if you have 50,000 weight pointed all to IBM.COM, I don't think Yahoo will banned IBM.com from its SERP. If you have 50,000 weight pointed at some unknown, unestablished site, you can have it banned from Yahoo pretty easily - that's what was learned from Coopguys' experiment. It all depend on the site and how many existing links it has and how well established it is.
I did get a non-standard email from Yahoo, my site got back into their database one or two days later, but never appeared in the SERPs after that. By the way, my site only has unique content, dmoz listed. It seems impossible to have the ban lifted.
You guys need to follow that link that is in the message from Yahoo. Take a look at the big list of things they consider spammy and make sure your site isn't doing any of it. Then sumbit your site for re-evaluation.
Did that. Sent an email to them as well in response to their canned response. So far I have not heard back. The only thing I left in was the Coop ads. Then again, there was nothing spammy on the site, unless adsense is considered spammy Again, this is a very informational site packed with content and designed not for revenue, but to share information with others.
