I'd use Google Analytics personally and tag every page with its code.

You can see the number of pageviews for each page on your site with a tracking script like Google Analytics.

I put the Google code on the template that I use for all of my pages. Then you can look under Top Content in Analytics to see which pages are visited most often.

If you put on both, you will get different stats for each. I thought I'd say that just to pre-empt the inevitable question you'll ask later on down the line. I personally would only use Google Analytics but it's always nice to see the differences between the analytics software.

Why would you want a statcounter when Google Analytics will tell you everything you need to know, if I had to chose between the two, Google Analytics would win every time, don't get to hung up on knowing who has been to your site, spend time on getting the next visitors.

I really like Google Analytics over the other programs I have used. It seems to give the most realistic numbers. I've had websites that had bot traffic before, it was counted in awstats and places, but not in Google Analytics. I think it is better to be honest with yourself, get targeted traffic, and reap the rewards. There is no point in having innaccurate data.

You need to know what works, otherwise you'll use time on things which are of little benefit. Something like Google Analytics can give you a very quick snapshot of what's working with your optimisation efforts.

You can see your site traffic in your site control panel and check the site statics in it.

ohk guys.. so everyone here votes for google analytics. THANKS for your time taken to reply me! currently I'm using it but I see one drawback which is I can't see my ranking page for each keyword. for ex. analytics tells me that the page www.abc.com/poems/funny-poems.html is getting visitors for "funny poems" and funny friendship poems".
but it doesn't tell me on which SERPs page I stand for these KW ...!!!
such as we can track in extreme tracker; we just click on a tracker keyword and it directly takes us to the SERPs page of google for tht particular KW.
I know that i can use google webmaster tool for this purpose. But the google webmaster tool shows weekly crawled results .. i guess [ i don't know much .. need advice about it too]
i actually want to know the daily stats of my ranknig page first, second, or third - on which page any of my internal web page stays for a given KW.
    any idea about it?

Yes, I agree Google Analytics is the best. You may also want to check your live stats using whos.amung.us widget to know what page of your site is hot right now.

The Big G Analytics would be your first choice in this dilemma. But if you like, you can also use stat counter as an alternative. There also widgets plugins in which track visitors of web pages. :)
