I want to build links to my website. My problem is that I can't seem to find websites that can link back to my site. I know what type of websites I can get backlinks from, like: - Blog comments. - Forum posts. - Social bookmarking. - Article submission. - Press release. and so on ... But my problem is, I can't seem to find websites that I can create good backlinks without spamming. I have a funny pictures website. And I don't want to create a link on a car wallpaper website. I can't find websites that are related to my site. How would you build links for a funny pictures website?
For starters you are in a 'niche' category - too niche infact, which is difficult to make work/monetise anyway - but by going too niche, you automatically cut down the number of websites that are in your field and that match you as link swapping goes. I'd forget it if I were you - I already advised this would be tough to make work plus link swapping is dead - it died years ago as too many realised you can't make money by swapping links, so everyone sells advert/link space instead, but it was always going to go that route, as it began with the porn sites, then every business jumped on the web for easy pickings, but the newbies/wanabees don't realise that these huge corporates were millionaires before the web came about and so transition was easy to make it work. Publishing is what you have entered into and its the toughest game to win, most lose their shirt trying this crap. Everyone with a web connection thinks with £1000, they can get a piece of the pie - their nutters of the highest order, and everyone that copies them needs to be in a straight jacket.
I have read a lot of your replies. You seem to be against link building. How do you get ranked well in SEs? I find that link building is frustrating. I have seen websites gain rank with spamy links. To be honest I hate link building, but to me it's the only way to get ranked. I have watched videos of Matt Cutts on YouTube, and he says that you should not ignore link building completely. As it may help your site. But also don't obsess over it. What would you do to rank high in search engines if you are not going to build links?
First off - I'd advise you drop the affiliate nonsense, as it only works for the perfect type of website, which you don't have, and many don't have it. Secondly, think of a decent idea first, and only run with it if you are 70% certain of traffic success, and it needs to stand on its own feet traffic-wise - without further traffic building. Whatever idea it is - you must be prepared to sell it, contact companies and actively sell this or it won't be anything. I cant fully advise you, until you have something decent in place, it would be a pointless exercise and a waste of your time.
If you want to build good natural links you're going to have to pay. Do guest posts and talk about funny pictures and add some funny pictures in the post and put a natural link to your site in the post. Do this once a month and you will build relative natural links to your site over time and you can get some traffic from the post as well. Make sure you post on a well established site because it's awful to pay for a guest post on a site that shuts down four months later.
