Sorry if this has been asked before but i've searched the forum and found nothing.

what factors are involved when working out the value of a website?

I've used several 'website value calculators' but they have all given varying figures from $78 to $3,008.

    Thanks for the help,

I've seen it mentioned as being 18 months of revenue the site brings in.
So if you are taking in $100 a month, it might be worth $1,800 to somebody.
Or it might be worth double that if another sees a way to better monetize it.
As with anything else, it depends on what a buyer is willing to give.

    HI

    Normal selling price depends..

On the monthly income of the site... 10x to 12x monthly revenue , sometimes you could get 24x to 36x monthly revenue... if the site gets a lot of traffic and has a good domain name and a good search engine rank..

Also other thing could make it worth even more... best thing to do would be to ask in some forums what people think your site is worth, all you need to do is post the domain name and give an estimate of the monthly revenue.

    Thanks
    Tom

Ive seen this article referred to a fair bit recently, its as good a starting point as any.

    http://www.sitepoint.com/article/web-site-valuation-guide

It would be nice if a standard developed. Personally if i was selling a site, I would use the calculations in that article as justification for the price. If you give people a reasoning from a quality source its harder for them to argue with you, off course they still will. Stand your ground.
