Different search engines will pull different results. Would you think that if, say, I already have better luck with my sites in MSN and Yahoo that I do these searches within those search engines and leave Google alone?

murugan, how are gonna do all those searches? :) I have a tool where you can just type keyword and you get a list of potential pages to trade or submit links. The idea is similar to your post. But it's much easier. It's done in Yahoo API.

To find a quality link partner i see the cache date of the site. so i prefer to do searches than using a tool.

No, because the search will be ultimately coming from you and your browser, not my site. It is as if you performed the Google search itself. My script just ads a few words to the search itself.

Dejaone: Yours looks like it still needs tweeking. Not very many relevant results showed for me.

Tflight: Your tool seems to have returned a few more relevant results.

    Thanks for sharing the tools.

I don't know about the tools, but if you are doing it manually, you can also add some negative keywords to the search if you want to streamline the results (and save time):

    To weed out ODP clones:
    -odp -"open directory"

To weed out reciprocal link only results:
    -reciprocal -exchange -pagerank

I have heard that getting too many links too quickly can result in a site being penalized by Google.

Would this amount qualify as "too many"?

Considering I got over 100,000 backlinks from the co-op in that length of time, no.

Didn't work well for me, all you need to do is go to Google and enter this (change KEY+WORDS for your own keywords):

"KEY+WORDS" "submit a site" OR "submit a URL" OR "submit your URL" OR "add a site" OR "add your site" OR "add a URL" OR "add your URL" OR "suggest a URL" -odp -"open directory" -reciprocal -exchange -pagerank

Dont use any tools , just do the searches directly in SE's.

    Good Luck caroline.

Besides using kwds in SEs it helps to use directory submissions and article distribution.
