I have web design company and would like to try market on social media sites such as myspace and facebook. I have a concern on how to find right friends who are interested in your service. The major problem is if you try to find some one by keywords such as web design, designing company ext.(any keywords that you would optimize your website for) you will find all your competitors instead of your potential customers. Please help with advise.

Search relevant people like who have joined photoshop or any other graphic kinda software fan pages on Facebook. Add people from there.

Aren't those people going to be more of my competitors other than potential customers? If people are interested in professional software such as photoshop or dreamwiver most likely they are interested in doing design themselves.

Create a group and invite people to join your group, by this way, you will get a lot of traffic whenever you will post something to it. See how you can add thosuands of members to your group on facebook within few hours.

You're right, I've been using FB more than 1,5 years and never get any projects from open groups and fans page, but I got lot projects from some private groups. It's not easy to join the private group because you should get invitation from creator/admin to join the groups, and lot of them are hidden so you can't search them or show in your friend account

Yes, I've looked for groups to join in Facebook and can't find them. Why does Facebook make it so hard to find these groups? That doesn't make sense to me.

The multi million dollar companies don't need members for their facebook group, they only invite employee, business partners and people they need to join the groups
