How to find most used search engine in an area

    I am looking to find out how many people uses a search engine in an area, specifically St. Louis. Is there a website that tells with some research what percent of people use Yahoo or Google. The reason is because I talked to some local SEO and he said that Yahoo was used more than Google here and I wanted to see if there was actually some research behind it. We are looking to do ppc soon and I want to find out if Yahoo or Google would be better.

    I highly doubt that Yahoo is used more than Google in St Louis. Most likely this seo 'expert' knows how to do well on Yahoo, but isn't as good at getting Google rankings & traffic. Google typically gets about 2/3 to 3/4 of the search market. The only way Yahoo would beat Google in any North American market is if Yahoo was specifically targeting that city with extra advertising.

    For PPC it isn't necessarily about which search engine has more traffic though. It is about who will provide the best converting traffic at the best price. There is plenty of PPC traffic available and as an advertiser you can choose which specific people you want to target.
