    Advertise :)

Seriously though, hit up your past clients for referrals, setup a website to showcase not only your work but tell people what it is you do and why they need you.

You can also advertise on the web in classifieds, freelance sites, and if you have the budget do some real advertising.

Become a free member of GetaFreelancer site at www.getafreelancer.com. There are great freelance writing jobs there and once you get a job, the income is steady from the same buyers.

Hi Leon, nice to meet you here :)

I think having your own website with sample and testimonials and soliciting for jobs on forums are better than getting listed in freelance jobs websites.

Specialize. Network. Know your target market. Spend time reaching your target market. That's how you do it, and that formula is better than any freelance bidding site out there.

Target market, target market and target market. You use it to sell yourself, sell products, sell services. And a website or blog. You've got to have that these days.

Here's a great place to look for freelance writing gigs: www.freelancewritinggigs.com. Deborah Ng posts gigs Monday through Friday, lots of different types of gigs. :)

Craigslist can also be useful. So is Elance.com and Guru.com, but it also depends on what type of writing you want to do. :)

I can't make this link live yet, so sorry about not making it easier. (Those rules and all, got to abide by them.

    But here's my list.

    calissaleigh.com/write/daily-writing-job-checklist-freelancing-or-employed

I had this on another page for years and finally moved it to the blog. I use all of those resources, plus I take time to use Google to locate SEO companies (or whatever I'm looking for) and send a letter of introduction and a resume and ask if they need assistance.

You can also bug local companies to see if they need a writer. Don't forget your local newspapers.

Try to network with people, always specialize on what you know best and not what is the 'market trend', getting more jobs is really a matter of time (hopefully short time too) if quality is your priority and you have done all of the above. Your article about someone or something else determines who you are as a writer, so just utilize that already!

Put yourself out there - do forum posting and article marketing. Those steps can help "sell" your services.
