    Well, I think that main theme of the year 2012, which will be discussed a lot, is is the end of the world.

    Also you can pay attention on big sports events like Europe football challenge.

    I could recommend semrush for finding tons of related keywords to these niches.

    An idea would be to watch the magazines early in the year. Sure they
    would have lot of talks about the new year 2012. You might find a
    few good ideas from there. (check the Advertisements too!)

    I think finding a keyword with high seo value should be given preference. there are keyword related software that will give an idea about this.

    The highest paying keywords has always been the insurance, finance & re-finance, attorney and loan related keywords. these keywords were the highest paying in past years, and you can always trust in future. For instance, check CPC of:
    dui attorney
    mesothelioma
    loan consolidation
    etc.
