    There are 2 different types of wordpress blogs. The first one, which was mentioned by Sensei.Design is the wordpress.com type blog. You just create an account and start posting within minutes. This is a quick and easy blogging solution. And to be honest, this will usually fit the needs of most bloggers.

    The second type of wordpress blog is a self hosted blog, meaning you have your own domain name and server. This is a little more difficult to run and cost some money because you have to lease a server. You can download the software at wordpress.org to build your own self hosted wordpress blog.

    A lot of bloggers would like to have their own self hosted site. But for various reasons, such as the cost of the server or the technical issues that are involved, they will go with a blog at wordpress.com. If you do not understand terms like FTP or CHMOD mean, or if you do not know how to create a database, or a create a user for the database. A blog at wordpress.com might be the best solution for right now.
