Hello, I am looking to see if someone can shine some light on this subject. I've bene noticing that some drop catchers have been catching / backordering expiring domains that have valid google pagerank. After talking with a couple PageRank providers, I was told to look at the zone files & try to difference out the lists to filter pagerank domains. However, even after getting paid subscriptions at premiumdrops.com & freshdrop.net, these PR domain providers are compiling lists of PR domains that even these 2 sites don't know about. Does anyone have any idea how they're doing it? Are they perhaps checking the pagerank status when the domains are in redemption period, then during the drops, while the domains have lost their PR, they catch the names & they gain the old PageRank value again? I'm really confused.. especially after talking with other collegues & finding that even premiumdrops & freshdrop have no clue how this guy is grabbing these pagerank domains. Any help would be greatly appreciated & I can pay you for your help / information.

Here's the experiences I've had with these paid sites. I've gotten paid accounts & here's the results I've been getting: http://www.domainannounce.com/ - I haven't been able to find any valid pagerank domains here http://www.registercompass.com/ - Can't find any real pagerank domains in 2009. It worked fine in the past. http://www.deletedlive.com/ - The latest update to the site was nearly a year ago in 2008. If anyone knows of any other sites - I am all ears, but it seems that Google has really tightened up their PageRank with expired domains.
Those tools works sometimes but they sometimes doesn't work even on long time runnign websites. Best way is to check number of backlinks as it's described in my short guide. Check out PDF here: http://dndotcom.com/expired_domains_webmasterinter_dot_net.pdf
This is the hard way around it, but it's free, it only takes time and effort. I guess you could actually pay someone else to do it, maybe from Get a Freelancer or Elance, etc. Anyway, I found two domains with PR by simply typing into Google, "page not found" and though I had to spend a couple of hours looking mostly at error pages that were created specifically for search, I did run across two domains that were expired and arranged purchase.
Are there other search terms I can use? I just spent about 2 hours searching google for "Page not found" & I didn;t find a single expired domain. I just got a bunch of page not found pages, but the domain was still registered. Just the page google found was missing.
You know, I'm not sure because I never tried other search terms. Like I said, it was a long process. I just got fed up with checking out all the sites that claimed they had domains with page rank, then when you checked out the site it was not true.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! It's been really helpful. Too bad I still haven't been able to find what I was looking for.
Check my blog, there's guide how to evrify PR and link to domainyank list where You can find few valid PR4 - PR5 daily. But really check if pagerank is valid as PR4 and PR5 are mostly spoofed.
I run a website at domains.making-the-web.com (can't link yet) which lists domains expiring with PR / Yahoo! Backlinks for free - can usually get a few hundred a day Thanks, -Brendon.
BBosh, Your tool is piece of cr*p as it shows 301 redirect domains with fake/spoofed pagerank. Like PR7 roguelibrarian.com (You show .net with same parameters) You only hunt for commission junction godaddy $$$ for offering exprensive junk domains on aftermarket.

I paid for 6 months membership on Domain Announce a couple of years ago - it was a waste of time and money.
I agree, I paid for registercompass.com & many others - never to find the information I needed. Just a big waste of money & time.
