Google webmaster tools is telling me I have a few dead links on my site, theres about 170 pages on my site and I've searched and searched the site but cannot find anything. I recognize the dead urls from when the site was being developed but I cannot find them, apparently google is still finding them, are there any tools out there that will help out? Any helpful response is appreciated.
If your using the Firefox browser then get an extension called LinkChecker, it works well and will check 200 or so links in about 3 seconds.
Xenu is really a good tool for checking dead links. you can also use http://dead-links.com - or you can buy paid version of http://xml-sitemaps.com which is showing broken links on site.
you may want to use http://www.webmastersloom.com/free-reciprocal-link-checker-software/ to check the links on your site...if your link is still on their site...it will also show you the page on where your link is located
if you have 170 pages on your site , click on every link on your site . 170 is not a big number , you can check it by hand witout a program
http://www.brokenlinkcheck.com/ this is one of best, no download, no registration, it's free and accurate.
