The following is a blog post I wrote that I thought members of the forums might find useful. I am also interested in others opinion on this. It is directed towards web designers but I think people in other industries could use it as well.

Thanks for posting. Your tips are useful but pretty well known in the marketing community. You can spend alot of man-hours tracking all that stuff but typically a web firm will not get slammed by inquiries from marketing efforts. We just check Google traffic and ask those contacting us how they found us and what keywords etc did they use. You get a feel quickly as to what works. Typically print ads do not work well unless you are giving your work away at very low prices. Then you need to reconsider your business model.

Great post/article. The offline advertising is something very much over looked nowadays but has always and will always work. Postcard advertising is also still effective. A quirky way to get noticed now (before everyone jumps on it) is to include a QR code in your ad pointing to your site or contact details with a brief instruction what to do, the first time I came across these I instantly downloaded the app and checked it out.
