Hey Guys, I apologize if this is the wrong section since I am looking for a value on my site and domain and not just the actual name. I am running a large site with a couple related and unrelated smaller sites feeding off of the larger one. The large one is generating the following: 2.80-3+ million page views a month 110,000+ visitors a month 10,000 + Members Small ones are a combined 60,000 page views a month, but this is quite a new project and I think I can really develop on these smaller websites surrounding the larger one... I am making money currently off of advertising only and was wondering what would be an approximate value of my website and how much I should be charging for advertising? I am not exactly a master of the web design world so I have been simply guessing at what is a reasonable price... Currently I am charging $165 for 3 months of banners and a button link on each page, and I do have one text link advertiser paying less than that I can not remember the exact price agreed upon.... So am I too low, too high, just right? And besides selling physical products which I do not want to get involved with at the moment, what other ways can I generate money from the website? Other methods of advertising? Thanks for your help and I apologize if this is not the correct section for this to be, but I did a search on appraisals and this is the section I have found.
Typically you value a site just like any other business - monthly revenue times 12 - 36 months. Of course there will always be minor differences depending on the nature of the site but the above is a good rule of thumb to get a ballpark figure to start with.
With that kind of traffic I'd say you are way low, but it really does depend on the site. Have you applied to adsense? You'll find lots of good AS advice here on DP. You can't make a link until you have 10 posts but I'm sure if you wanted to give us the url there are plenty of folks here that would take a look and give you more solid advice.
Currently all of my advertisers are DIRECTLY related to my website subject, besides some ticket text links. Since I only have a narrow field of advertisers to deal with, I want to be careful to keep them all happy. I also feel that my prices are low, but at the same time if they are a low price, why am I not attracting outside advertisers? Must I go out and find them? I currently have 22 advertisers so I guess my value would clock in at $1200 a month and so you're saying my website value would be from $15,000-40,000 if I use that formula of monthly times 12-36 months... Now why such a large range? What pushes it to the higher ends of that range? My sites income is steady, it is always growing in traffic, membership, and content and it has a TON of content on the website. Now I would assume and hope that these traits and the fact that prices probably could be increased would push me to the higher values?
meatball, I wouldn't rely on a multiple. It's not that simple. The quality of your traffic, topic, potential growth, revenue, brand, etc... all factor into the equation. 12-24x monthly revenue is a starting point only, then you should adjust for the factors above.
To calculate the value of a website you must analyze lot of things. You must take into consideration the age of the website, current page rank of the website, traffic to the website etc etc. There are still lot of factors that we need to consider. The discussed ones are just a few factors. I learned a lot of factors from experienced people forum. I now know how to calculate the value of websites manually. I consider that this is the best method to calculate a websites value rather than using online website value checking tools. The website value checking tools cannot tell the exact value of a website. I have come across a the experienced people forum tutorial which offers you instructions on calculating the value of a website or blog. Here is the link how to value a website or blog ?. Also you can charge for ad space on your website based on traffic you receive to your websites. Lalucochin
Have you tried using valuation sites like webworth.info to get a value on site and advertising revenue you can then get a rough idea how much you should be making
